The Ojo Local Government Area recently witnessed a momentous occasion, as the outgoing Chairman, Hon. Rasulu Olusola Idowu, commissioned several projects that will have a lasting impact on the community. The projects, which include a multipurpose Sports Centre, Executive Committee Building, and Vocational Centre were commissioned in the presence of prominent government officials, council helmsmen, and people from diverse groups and associations.
The Senator representing Lagos West, in her remarks, praised Hon. Rasulu’s initiatives, stating that youth engagement and talents will be showcased through the newly commissioned projects. She commended the Chairman’s commitment to empowering the youth and promoting their welfare. “The youth are the future of our state, and it’s imperative that we provide them with the necessary tools and platforms to excel,” she said.
The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobalaji Ogunlende, noted that the projects were in the right direction, emphasizing the importance of initiatives that cater to the needs of the youth. With over 70% of Lagos residents being youth, he said that initiatives of this nature are crucial for the future of the State. “These projects will not only provide opportunities for our youth to develop their skills but also contribute to the overall growth and development of our state,” he added.
The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development, Mr. Bolaji Kayode Robert, lauded Hon. Rasulu’s idea of carrying the youth along in his administration. He praised the Chairman’s efforts in many directions, including road construction, sports, education, recreation, and empowerment. “Hon. Rasulu’s leadership style is a testament to his commitment to the welfare of the people of Ojo Local Government Area,” he said.
One of the most significant initiatives undertaken by Hon. Rasulu was the support given to the Lagos State University of Education(LASUED), Oto-Ijanikin. The Chairman donated 10 million naira for a solar scheme, a development that cannot be quantified. The Commissioner for Tertiary Institution, Hon. Sule Tolani, gave accolades to Hon. Rasulu for his immense contribution to education. “This donation will go a long way in enhancing the academic activities of the university and promoting the welfare of its students,” he said.
Additionally, Hon. Rasulu also donated a 500KVA transformer to a community, which will greatly improve the power supply and enhance the quality of life for residents. The transformer is expected to benefit thousands of residents in the community, providing them with reliable access to electricity.
The Lagos State APC Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, noted that Hon. Rasulu’s initiatives were in line with the party’s values. He emphasized that the party’s experience in governance at the grassroots level has made it possible for people to enjoy the dividends of democracy. “APC is committed to providing good governance and improving the lives of our people,” he said.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Princess Adebisi Sarah Sosan, the former Deputy Governor of Lagos. She urged everyone to continue supporting the APC, citing the party’s achievements under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership. She called on the people to pray for the President’s re-election in 2027, so that his support for grassroots governance can continue.
The commissioned projects are expected to have a positive impact on the lives of the people of Ojo Local Government Area. The Sports Centre will provide a platform for youth to showcase their talents, while the Vocational Centre will equip them with skills that will enable them to become self-reliant. The donation of 500kVA transformer will also enhance the overall quality of life for residents.
