About Ojo Town
Ojo is a town occupied indigenously by a sub-yoruba group/tribe called the Aworis, just like its adjourning towns and villages. It is one of the twenty (20) local government areas of Lagos state, southwestern Nigeria. It is bordered by otto-Awori, Iba, Olorunda and Oriade lcdas across all geographical zones.
Historically, it was part of Awori district council before the Nigerian independence and sequel to the creation of local governments.
It was part of Badagry local government until 1967, when it became a substantive local government.
It is worthy of note that before 1991, the old Amuwo odofin local government (before the creation of Oriade lcda), and Ajeromi-ifelodun local government were part of the old ojo local government.
Ojo local government has otto-awori and Iba LCDAs as off-spring local council development areas.
Traditionally, the people of Ojo were majorly fishermen, coconut farmers of commercial repute, while women were majorly mat weavers and traders. Today, due to its cosmopolitan nature and urbanisation, it harbours civil servants, business tycoons, doctors, teachers, lawyers and virtually all professions.
Ojo local government today, has two kingdoms which are ojo and irewe and many chiefdoms under it.
Lagos State Visionary Leader
The Centre of Excellence is committed to leadership, and our government has taken decisive steps to ensure Lagos State consistently upholds its leading position. This commitment is clearly reflected in the agenda of this administration.

Alaba Rago is an Ojo livestock market that sells a variety of animals such as cattle, goats, sheep, and birds such as chickens and turkeys. "Rago" is Hausa for "Sheep." It is arguably the market with the greatest influx of livestock from the northern part of the country, with animals arriving from Kano, Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi, and other states.
