**Ojo LGA Marks Grand Finale of Week-Long Activities Celebrating a Successful 100 Days in Office**
Ojo Local Government has concluded a week-long programme marking the successful first 100 days in office of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Princess Muhibat Titilola Rufai, with a grand finale focused on education support, welfare relief, economic empowerment and healthcare delivery.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman reaffirmed that the administration’s vision goes beyond physical infrastructure to prioritise the welfare and well-being of the people. She noted that from inception, the administration committed itself not only to building roads and structures, but to strengthening the “infrastructure of the human soul” through people-centred policies.
Education was highlighted as a critical pillar of development. Acknowledging the sacrifices parents make to keep their children in school amid economic challenges, the Chairman described the bursary programme as more than financial assistance, but a statement of belief in the dreams and potential of students across Ojo Local Government. Beneficiaries were urged to remain focused and make good use of the opportunity as future leaders of the Local Government.
In response to prevailing global and national economic challenges, and in alignment with the Renewed Hope agenda, the Local Government also distributed welfare support as a demonstration of care and solidarity. A total of 1,000 beneficiaries received a 10kg bag of rice and ₦20,000 each to ease immediate household pressures. In addition, selected families were supported with financial grants of ₦500,000 and ₦250,000 to strengthen household stability and resilience.
The Chairman reiterated the administration’s long-term commitment to food security and economic stability by tapping into the natural resources of the riverine areas and positioning Ojo Local Government as a major food-producing hub in Lagos State.
Economic empowerment was further strengthened with the disbursement of funds to over 500 business owners, including traders, tailors and tech entrepreneurs. The support is aimed at helping small businesses scale up, create jobs and stimulate grassroots economic growth. Beneficiaries were encouraged to deploy the funds prudently to expand their ventures and improve their livelihoods.
The Chairman emphasized that all the programmes unveiled during the week are investments in people, not acts of charity, stressing that when students are supported, families are fed and businesses grow, the entire community prospers. She reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability and continuous engagement with residents.
The grand finale capped a week-long celebration of stewardship and achievements marking 100 days in office. Activities during the week included the presentation of stewardship and achievements, free medical outreach, joint graduation of ICT and skill acquisition trainees, commissioning of newly built primary school classrooms and a health centre in Tarffi, distribution of boats, and a community walking exercise.
