Ojo Local Government Launches Second Phase of Back-to-School Support …Distributes Bags and Exercise Books to Pupils Across 24 Primary Schools

Ojo Local Government has commenced the second phase of its Back-to-School Support Programme, with the distribution of school bags and exercise books to pupils across the 24 public primary schools in the Local Government Area.

The initiative, led by the Executive Chairman of Ojo Local Government, Hon. (Princess) Muhibat Titilola Rufai, is designed to ease the financial burden on parents and ensure that pupils return to school with essential learning materials.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Executive Chairman said the programme reflects her administration’s commitment to making education more accessible and supporting families across Ojo.

She noted that while school bags and exercise books may appear basic, they are important tools in a child’s educational journey. According to her, providing these materials is also a way of reassuring pupils that their education matters and letting parents know that the Council recognises the challenges involved in providing for their children.

The Chairman highlighted several education initiatives undertaken by her administration, including the construction of a new six-classroom block at Taffi Awori, which has provided pupils with a safer and more conducive learning environment.

She also recalled the Council’s provision of GCE and JAMB forms to deserving students, helping young people from families facing financial difficulties to pursue further education.

As part of efforts to support learning and improve academic performance, the administration has also supported the PBAT School Feeding Initiative, providing nutritious meals to pupils to help them concentrate better in class.

In addition, the Council organised additional coaching classes for GCE students, giving candidates extra academic support as they prepared for their examinations.

The Executive Chairman recalled that the Council had earlier completed the first phase of the Back-to-School Bags and Exercise Books Programme, adding that the second phase is a continuation of the administration’s efforts to provide pupils with the basic resources they need to learn effectively.

She commended teachers for their dedication to educating and mentoring the children and appreciated parents and guardians for their sacrifices and continued support for their children’s education.

The Chairman urged the pupils to make good use of the materials provided, take their studies seriously, listen to their teachers, respect their parents and remain focused on their academic goals.

She stressed that the future development of Ojo depends significantly on the quality of education and opportunities available to its younger generation.

The event was attended by the Apex Leader, Alhaji Raji Olorunfunmi; APC Chairman, Alhaji Kazeem Dada; Vice Chairman, Chimeze Emerem; APC Leaders, Mayor Edun, Alhaji Adamson Shitta and Alhaji Rabiu Jimoh; members of the Legislative Arm led by the Deputy Leader, Hon. Ariyo Musa Kayode; Supervisors; and members of the Management Team led by the Council Manager, Mr. Muyiwa Ayeni.
